Male Scholar Athlete

Noah is the son of Kathy Maldanado and Keith Martin.  He is a member of Van Buren’s Future Business Leaders of America and has held several part time jobs during his high school years.  Athletically, Noah has excelled in soccer, basketball, and baseball, lettering in all sports during all of his high school years.  He has been selected to All-Aroostook all star teams in multiple sports, and most recently was selected as an Aroostook County Senior All Star for basketball.  Noah’s hobbies include hunting and fishing.  He plans to attend Northern Maine Community College where he will study electrical construction.




Female Scholar Athlete

Elyssa Violette is the daughter of Brian and Gretchen Violette.  Her achievements are impressive, to say the least.  Academically, she is ranked 1st in her graduating class, is the Principal’s Award recipient here at Van Buren District School, has maintained Honor Roll status throughout her 4 years of high school, and was selected for the Phi Beta Kappa Award.  She has been actively involved in many activities beyond athletics, including being the National Honor Society President, Yearbook Committee, ESEA Committee, and the student representative on the District Curriculum Committee.


Athletically, she has played varsity soccer for 5 seasons, lettering at three different schools - Van Buren, Madawaska, and Wisdom.  She has also participated in basketball, tennis, and volleyball for several years.


In her spare time, she can be found working as a CNA at the Borderview Nursing Home in Van Buren, as well as enjoying spending time with her family and friends.  Elyssa plans on attending Husson University in the fall, where she plans on majoring in Psychology in hopes of becoming a clinical psychologist.
