Course Description

Certified Nursing Assistant: The CNA curriculum is designed to prepare students to provide nursing assistance under the supervision and delegation of a registered professional nurse. Upon successful completion of this program and subsequent to an evaluation of competency through testing, the nursing assistant will be issued a standardized certification of training by Maine Department of Education, which will keep a record of all certificates issued on the CNA registry.

The Medical Terminology course incorporated within the CNA program will introduce students to essential medical terminology analysis through the knowledge of prefixes, suffixes and root words. The study also includes vocabulary that cannot be analyzed, verbal punctuation, medical abbreviations, spelling and medical vignettes. (This course is a concurrent enrollment with Northern Maine Community College. Upon successful completion, students will earn 3 college credits)
